2016 was a year of creative growth for me. I started an Instagram account, an etsy shop, and moved my blogging over to my own domain name and was invited to work with 3 amazing product designers on their Creative Teams. I am thrilled with the growth I saw in my craft and my small business over the year, and I’m excited to set some goals for 2017 as well.
I’m going to continue working on Project Life on my own terms. I have never felt bound to one spread per week, I make spreads as I have photos and am happy with that. Last year I hoped to fit my Project Life in one album and it didn’t happen. This year I planned ahead and bought 2 – 9×12 albums (the sold out 7paper ones, sorry I can’t hook you up with a source on that one) in grey. I loved the aqua albums I used last year and I’m ready to try a different color. Thankfully I already have 2! I also plan on using the same page protector configuration that I have been using this year, alternating the 3B with the 4B (this gives 2 4×6 pockets per 2 page layout) and has been working for me really well.
One Little Word
This project was a smash for me this year. My husband bought into my word and we were able to create some really awesome moments for our family and carve out some simplicity. Now moving forward I’m looking at balance for my word this year. I have a few more ideas on this word for me this year and I’ll be back a little later in the month to share those.
Week In the Life
This project probably took the most out of me this year. I was a bit cranky about the size (6×8) so I think I might try something different this year, maybe a 4×4. I do love last year’s album, but I think I want to take this project in a different direction this year, or even possibly sit it out, we shall see.
I loved trying out some different mediums this year and the Traveller’s Notebook I made for our June vacation was my favourite. I’m thinking of revisiting this size and style for something this year. Maybe some travel or even our favourite summer activities.
Just like my goals post last year, this project is a little too fresh in my mind to think about next year. I found an awesome rhythm with December Daily this year and I’m sure I will feel re-energized about this project mid-year. Right now, I’m just happy to be done.
In the spirit of my word BALANCE I’m also trying to think of some NON-scrapbooking goals, and I really want to do more sewing than I did this year. I have a half-finished Grinch quilt for my son, and I started a Harry Potter quilt last year that I want to work on as well. Also, I want to get some more of my design ideas into the Etsy shop as well.
Here is the opening spread for my 2017 album, this uses a great new collection from Sahin Designs called Glitz! It’s live in her shop so check it out!
